Welcome to IDeAS

… the project that transforms performing arts into tools for youth work

The idea of organising this training course was conceived by two friends, Mouna, a teacher by profession, from Lebanon, and Charlo, a PR professional, and a youth leader, trainer and public speaker, from Malta.

Despite living some 2,000 km apart, we discovered that we have several common interests: our love for performing arts, a passion to work with adolescents, and our enthusiasm to share our skills with and learn from other like-minded people. We exchanged views on how youth workers, youth leaders and other stakeholders could use such interests in their work with youngsters. This tête-à-tête went on through long online chats until, what had started as another interesting conversation, developed into a fully-fledged and concrete training idea which we decided to pursue.

However, as time went by, the idea of organising a one-off training course has evolved into a 24-month long project. This training course is the first of a three-phase project. During the second phase, the trainees will be expected to organise an event with their youngsters, using the skills and competencies acquired during the training course. The last phase will bring together the course participants for a conference (the host country will be announced in due course) where they will share their experiences and good practices. During the same conference we will launch the EuroMed IDeAS Trainers’ Platform, a pool of trained individuals who can be recruited as trainers in national and international training events.
