The main aim of this training course is to equip the participants with alternative tools which they will use while working with young people. The training course will be evaluated throughout its duration and adapted accordingly to maximise its effectiveness, ensuring that the it addresses the participants and trainers’ expectations and training needs.
During the training course:
A self-assessment workshop will be conducted at the end of each day so that the participants, as well as the trainers, take stock of their own progress. At the end of the workshop, they will be encouraged to share and discuss their progress or concerns.
One of the main outcomes of the training course will be the formation of a EuroMed network for youth workers, youth leaders, trainers and mentors who will be adequately trained in performing arts and in their use as an alternative tool in youth work. This network will also serve as a source of information, expertise and ideas, as well as a platform for discussion and sharing of good practices. This platform will improve the quality of youth work both on national as well as EuroMed levels.
The course participants would serve as multipliers and will use their skills in other YOUTH Programme activities. Also, the participants would be adequately trained to meet the needs of young people with fewer opportunities due to their cultural background and physical limitations, such as prison inmates, young people with disabilities, and youths with challenging behaviour. This training course would be the best opportunity to reach this goal.
The trainees would be expected to carry out performances in their respective countries involving the young people they work with to reach their audiences. (OUTCOME)
Also, participants will be encouraged to deposit comments and queries in a comments box. These comments will be reviewed by the trainers during their daily meeting which will be held every evening where they will discuss the participants’ feedback, evaluate the day’s work, assess the trainees’ progress and the trainers’ performance, and prepare for the following day. Findings will be recorded and reported to the group the following morning.
Another evaluation tool will be a collective diary in which the trainees will be encouraged to enter their reflections on a daily basis.
A final evaluation session will be conducted at the end of the training course to take stock of the course success and measure its effectiveness.
Long-Term Evaluation:
The course participants and trainers will keep in touch through a mailing list, which will serve as a platform for discussing issues related to the project.
As described in Section XX above (Objectives), the aim of this course is to establish a network of drama trainers who will be offering their expertise to other youth and youth workers during new YOUTH projects. This course will be improved (based on the evaluations) and possibly offered again in the future for more youth workers.
Being an established network, the involved youth workers will periodically report about the activities they will be involved in. This will indicate the long-term outcomes of this training course over time. Also, the network will organise its projects by applying for grants under the Support Measures scheme within the YOUTH Programme.
