The idea of organising this training course was conceived by two friends, Mouna, a teacher by profession, from Lebanon, and Charlo, a PR professional, and a youth leader, trainer and public speaker, from Malta.

Despite living some 2,000 km apart, we discovered that we have several common interests: our love for performing arts, a passion to work with adolescents, and our enthusiasm to share our skills with and learn from other like-minded people. We exchanged views of how youth workers, youth leaders and other stakeholders could use such interests in their work with youngsters. This tête-à-tête went on through long online chats until, what had started as another interesting conversation, developed into a fully-fledged and concrete training idea which we decided to pursue.

The idea was also bounced off other trainers and youth leaders. Their positive response was overwhelmingly beyond anyone’s expectations. They professed that performing arts are an ideal tool to reach young people, but on the other hand, many youth workers lack such skills. They reiterated their interest in taking part is this project. They also said that a long-term project would be more effective than a one-off training course.

Therefore, the idea evolved into a three-phased project, which will span over a period of several months. The first phase will be a 10-day training course to be held in Malta. During the second phase, the trainees will organise an event with their youngsters, using the skills and competencies acquired during the training course. The last phase will bring together the course participants for a conference where they will share their experiences and good practices. During the same conference we will launch the EuroMed IDeAS Trainers’ Platform, a pool of trained individuals who can be recruited as trainers in national and international training events.

For the first phase of the project, a draft proposal was drawn up and circulated among stakeholders. They gave their feedback and put forward their suggestions, such as approaches, methodologies, good practices, learning needs. Once the consultation process with the stakeholders was exhausted, feedback was analysed, collated and published on this website.

However, you too can comment and give feedback. You may send us your suggestions by email on or via the online form by not later than the 21st March 2015.
